With secure and reliable wireless networking hardware available from just £60 for a basic home unit, the benefits of creating your own Wireless Hotspot far outweigh the costs. Portable Computing Whether you want to sit on the sofa or in the garden with your laptop, move freely around the office or just eliminate the complicated wires in your office then wireless networking is the answer. An Access Point (the central "transmitter" of your wireless network) is available from the most basic single home models through to high-security, high-speed and extendable business-level models. The wireless network will operate transparently and can extend an existing wired network or could just be a network in its own right. You can do all the usual network tasks such as shared internet access, printing and file-sharing just as easily. Most new (all Intel Centrino) laptops come with a wireless network card built-in or are easily upgradable for under £25. Bridging Offices/Sites If connectivity is needed between sites within a close proximity of each other, and cabling isn't possible or practical then we can investigate and test the usage of wireless (WiFi) networking to create a large wireless network "hotspot" using additional internal and external aerials and multiple bridged access points to tie the locations together.
